GHOST PIRATES: New Savannah Hockey Team Announces New Name and Logo | Community | Savannah News, Events, Restaurants, Music

In less than a year, Savannah’s next ECHL hockey team will take to the ice at the new Enmarket Arena and officials announced the team’s name at a special event held at the Ghost Coast Distillery. Wednesday October 28.

Team name: Savannah Ghost Pirates.

“It was important that the name reflected the culture of the city of our team. Savannah is steeped in history and folklore, and we believe this name embodies that spirit, ”said Bob Ohrablo, President of Ghost Pirates. “It was also important for us to wait to announce the name when we could be here with our city partners, Enmarket Arena, and especially our fans.”

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson, who was also in attendance, expressed his enthusiasm for the new hockey team.

“In a city known for its great weather, rich history, art, architecture, great food and great people, Savannah will now also be known for hockey,” said Johnson. “In addition to the wonderful sporting aspects and aesthetics it brings, it also gives us the opportunity to introduce generations of young people to ice and hockey in Savannah. ”

Ghost Pirates CEO Andy Kaufmann looks forward to what the hockey team will bring to Savannah.

“We are proud to capture the spirit and culture of this incredible city with the name ‘Ghost Pirates’,” said Kaufmann. “Like Savannah, professional hockey has a long history, and the NHL’s Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for in North America. Now we are excited to bring this great sport to Savannah and have no doubts that you will agree that we make the city proud with our unique name. We will develop talent before your very eyes that will advance to the NHL and international hockey while creating a strong history for the whole city.

In addition to announcing the name, the management presented the logo as well as the team colors.

The logo is shaped like a ghost wearing a pirate hat and carrying a hockey stick.

The team colors are black, white and neon green with an emphasis on the ghost’s glowing eyes.

Over the next few months, the Ghost Pirates will feature a mascot, team jerseys, NHL / AHL affiliation, coach appointment, first player signing and more.
